L’Escola d’Administració Pública de Catalunya ha publicat el llibre digital “Els acords de partenariat publicoprivat en els complexos esportius municipals en municipis de menys de 20.000 habitants”.
Aquesta recerca ha estat finançada per la pròpia EAPC, l’ha dirigit l’Andreu Camps i hi han col·laborat vàries persones del grup GISEAFE.

Sociology of sport: Spain

The chapter begins by examining the origins of sociology of sport in Spain, which dates back to the transition to democracy, during which period sport became transformed progressively from an object of social concern into an object of sociological study. It then goes on to analyse the main factors of activation in particular processes of university teaching staff accreditation which acted as catalysts for the set of processes that fostered the emergence of sociology of sport in Spain. Lastly, the principal study fields are analysed by grouping them into three areas: sport and society, social attitudes to sport and sport facilities and organisations. In the conclusion, an assessment is made of contributions made to the speciality as well as of sociology of sport’s progressive internationalisation, a rare phenomenon prior to 2005 which is now regarded as a major indicator of the maturity of the discipline.

Gender policies in sports have expanded considerably in most countries in recent decades. Nevertheless, the implementation of these policies in sports organizations is by no means an automatic process. This article explores what happens when gender equity policies are applied in an university sports organization. Participatory action research over a four-year period was developed by the authors to increase the participation of women, and it also aimed to explore the perceptions and thoughts of key actors regarding equity actions. The analysis shows the participation numbers in the specific promotional campaign and reveals a wide range of responses among staff, ranging from enthusiasm and interest to resistance and fear. Gender equity actions often encounter resistance which cannot, and should not, be ignored. This article highlights certain forms of resistance that proposals of this kind should be prepared for.
Comparative study of laterality in people with fragile X syndrome, people with intellectual disabilities, and people with typical development

Following on from the studies by McManus and Cornish [(1997). Fractionating handedness in mental retardation: What is the role of the cerebellum? Laterality, 2(2), 81–89] and Cornish, Pigram, and Shaw [(1997). Do anomalies of handedness exist in children with fragile-X syndrome? Laterality, 2(2), 91–101], the aim of this paper was to determine laterality in people with fragile X syndrome (FXS). The sample comprised three study groups: the first with 30 people with FXS (mean age 17.9 years), the second 34 people with various intellectual disabilities (ID, mean age 20.9 years), and the third 160 people with typical development (mean age 14.7 years). Laterality was assessed with a test adapted for this study. The results confirm the preponderance of right-handedness (93.3%) in people with FXS and present new data regarding footedness and sensory dominance (eyedness and earedness), indicating inconsistent footedness and ocular cross-dominance. Almost three-quarters (73.5%) of people with other ID were right-handed. The results corroborate those of McManus and Cornish (1997). People with FXS tend to be right-handed but have ocular cross-dominance.

Guía de buenas prácticas para el desarrollo de carreras por montaña en espacios naturales protegidos
Estela Inés Farías ha participado en la publicación del borrador de la guía “Guía de buenas prácticas para el desarrollo de carreras por montaña en espacios naturales protegidos”.
El documento surge bajo la idea de compatibilizar la organización de carreras por montaña “con la conservación de los valores patrimoniales de los espacios por los que discurren, aplicando para ello criterios objetivos de control y un conjunto de condiciones que podrían llegar a ser restrictivas, en el momento de autorizarlas”. La guía tiene como objetivo proporcionar, a las entidades organizadoras, administraciones ambientales y a los participantes, un conjunto de criterios orientadores que guíen el desarrollo de este tipo de eventos y que establezcan las bases para su adecuada regulación mediante recomendaciones y la aplicación de criterios u oportunas medidas de limitación.

Resum:
This paper draws on research that aimed to explore the construction of gender relations in sport and physical education (PE) through a national study of Spanish university degree curricula. Spain is a useful case study through which to explore gender knowledge within sport and PE degrees, because, unlike many other countries, it has a common, national curriculum framework for its Physical Activity and Sport Science (PASS) degrees. In addition, it has recently passed a new law concerning the introduction of gender knowledge in higher education (HE). Drawing on Bernstein’s (1990) framework of the pedagogic device, this paper examines how this HE gender policy becomes recontextualised as universities and lecturers interpret and translate this into the pedagogical texts that make up the PASS curricula. Purposive sampling was used to select 16 of the 37 universities offering PASS degrees in 2012/2013. The research analysed 16 PASS documents at the degree level and 763 individual subject handbooks. Using discourse analysis, the results showed where and how gender knowledge was incorporated and the extent to which the topic was presented coherently throughout the documents. The analysis revealed five categories of the (in)visibility of gender knowledge within the universities’ instructional discourse. Gender knowledge is largely ignored in PASS curricular documentation, appearing, at best, in highly superficial ways. Despite a national policy requirement on universities to incorporate gender knowledge, this study shows how recontextualisation processes within specific universities’ pedagogic devices operate to marginalise such perspectives within PASS curricula. The research also revealed the significance of individual agents committed to gender equity being situated, and having influence, throughout the pedagogic device. The paper concludes that without a much wider, critical engagement in knowledge about gender equity, PASS degrees will continue to reproduce rather than disrupt the gender relations that have traditionally characterised the field.

The aims of this paper are the following: 1. To provide an overview of the fundamental aspects to be taken into account when carrying out and interpreting sports participation surveys; 2. To put forward an explanation of sports behavior; and 3. To suggest how these results may be used in intervention programs. Having gone over the literature in this field, I shall go on to address the following points: the definition of sports; trend analysis or the illusion of transparency; analysis of inequalities; identifying difference and individualization; and examining typologies to better understand each social group. I shall conclude with suggestions for sports policies

Complementariedad entre las relaciones diacrónicas de los T-Patterns y los patrones de conducta en acciones de esgrima de espada masculina de élite
Rafael Tarragó ha publicado el artículo “Complementariedad entre las relaciones diacrónicas de los T-Patterns y los patrones de conducta en acciones de esgrima de espada masculina de élite” en la Revista de Cuadernos de Psicología del Deporte.

El objetivo de este artículo es establecer las posibles relaciones diacrónicas detectadas en el análisis táctico de los asaltos de esgrima de espada masculina, desde tres técnicas analíticas complementarias. Se utilizó un diseño observacional nomotético, puntual y multidimensional en el registro de ocho asaltos de dos esgrimistas finalistas en los mundiales de Budapest 2013 y Kazán 2014. Se utilizó el instrumento de observación ESGRIMOBS. En el muestreo observacional realizado con LINCE v.1.1 se registraron 407 frases de armas. El análisis metodológico se realizó con los programas THEME v.6 Edu, GSEQ5 y HOISAN. Los resultados concluyen el interés de este análisis complementario a través de dos claras orientaciones. En primer lugar, un análisis táctico (intra-frase de armas), que vincula el pensamiento táctico con la ejecución técnica específica y su eficacia. Este análisis intra-frase de armas se lleva a cabo mediante el análisis secuencial del Retardo 0 (análisis de coocurrencias) y las configuraciones de los T-Patterns. En segundo lugar, un análisis estratégico (inter-frases de armas) que nos informa de la relación bidireccional, prospectiva y retrospectiva, de las acciones de esgrima en relación a su eficacia. Este análisis inter-frases de armas se realiza mediante el análisis secuencial en los retardos -1 a -5 y +1 a +5, las agrupaciones de clusters de los T-Patterns y el análisis de coordenadas polares. Estas herramientas nos permiten establecer relaciones directas entre las distintas acciones tácticas y su eficacia en el marcador, así como sobre las operaciones estratégicas de los tiradores durante la competición, pudiendo constituir un excelente complemento para la mejora de la toma de decisiones de los esgrimistas.
