L’article “An Examination of Ticket Pricing in a Multidisciplinary Sports Mega-Event” signat per Francesc Solanellas, Joshua Muñoz i Josep Petchamé ha estat publicat a la revista Economies.

“Some studies have examined ticket sales in the context of a sporting event. However, only a few have investigated the determinants of ticket prices, and, to date, none have done so in the context of a multidisciplinary sports mega-event. This study examines this complex paradigm through the case of the World Swimming Championships held in Barcelona, Spain. The particular focus of this study was whether, in such a framework, the same model of analysis of price determinants could be applied equally to all the disciplines that comprise the sporting mega-event. The applied model was significant, explaining the ranges of variation of the ticket prices in the different sport disciplines. The main hypothesis was rejected, which suggests that when examining price determinants in multidisciplinary sport mega-events, it will be convenient to implement a different model for each sporting discipline (aquatic, in the case at hand). These results can help professionals better understand consumer fluctuations throughout the ticket sales process in such an environment, in order to appropriately price tickets. This, in turn, will lead to maximizing revenue, as well as attendance, at sporting events”

Això passa amb la lateralitat, un element inherent a la persona que pot influir-hi en molts àmbits, com el físic, el cognitiu, el social, l’afectiu i l’educatiu. Estaria bé tornar a donar protagonisme a la lateralitat”

L’article ““We’ve Never Studied Bullying at University:” Bullying-Related Beliefs, Training, and Strategies Among Physical Education Preservice Teachers“, signat per Xènia Ríos, Carles Ventura i Maria Prat ha estat publicat a la revista Journal of Teaching in Physical Education.

Purpose: To examine beliefs about bullying in physical education (PE) among PE preservice teachers and to examine opinions about training received in this area and the strategies they would use to deal with this phenomenon. Method: We interviewed 44 PE-PSTs (M age = 23.91; SD = 2.96) from six Spanish universities in semistructured focus groups. The data collected were analyzed using hierarchical content analysis. Results: PE preservice teachers believed that while PE may favor the occurrence of bullying, with proper management, it could also be used to educate students and create a positive climate that could help prevent this behavior. The trainee teachers stated that they had not received any training on bullying at university. Overall, they lacked confidence to deal with this problem, and their proposed strategies lacked depth. Conclusions: Our findings highlight the need for universities to include bullying in their PE teacher training programs.

L’article “Rompiendo el tabú desde la pista de futbol” «No es importante que sea gay, da igual lo que sea», signat per Judit Solanas Sánchez, Pedrona Serra Payeras, Susanna Soler Prat, Ingrid Hinojosa-Alcalde i Anna Vilanova Soler ha estat publicat a Tándem. Didáctica de la Educación Física.

Se presenta una propuesta para trabajar las diversidades del entorno sociocultural, y en concreto, la diversidad de identidad de género y orientación sexual. La propuesta se aplicó en el barrio del Raval de Barcelona, con un grupo de escolares de diferentes nacionalidades y con riesgo de exclusión social. Se desarrolló en el marco de una actividad fuera del horario lectivo, con una clara intención educativa y de transformación social.

Este  trabajo  presenta  las  experiencias  vividas  por  el  alumnado  del  Grado  en Ciencias de la Actividad Física y el Deporte (CAFyD) del centro universitario Institut Nacional d’Educació Física de Catalunya. El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar las creencias previas de los y las estudiantes de CAFyD en relación a la actividad física en prisión y el impacto del ApS en el plano personal y profesional del estudiantado. Se han recogido las experiencias de tres cursos académicos a través de los diarios de un total de 81 estudiantes (24 chicas y 57 chicos).   Los   resultados   del   análisis   temático   revelan que   el   estudiantado   desarrolló competencias para la vida, tales como valores y responsabilidad social hacia ciertos colectivos sociales.  De  sus  relatos  se  concluye  que  las  reclusas  disfrutaron  del servicio; por lo   tanto, aunque se   trate  de   una  oferta androcéntrica, es   beneficiosa.  Se  debería seguir  indagando sobre esta cuestión y cuidando este tipo de ApS para superar este riesgo.

L’article “Facing hegemonic masculine structures: experiences of gay men studying physical activity and sport science in Spain”, signat per Anna Vilanova, Pau Mateu, Javier Gil-Quintana, Ingrid Hinojosa-Alcalde i Ilse Hartmann-Tews ha estat publicat a la revista Sport, Education and Society.

This research is the first to provide insights into the experiences of gay men studying a university degree in Physical Activity and Sport Science (PASS) in Spain. Drawing on Bourdieu’s categories, one-to-one semi-structured interviews were conducted with 11 PASS students and ex-students that were subsequently studied through deductive-inductive thematic analysis. Our findings show the PASS context to be a heteronormative, masculinised and cisgender social field. Male homosexuality was almost invisible except when antigay language was used. Considering this environment, most of our interviewees chose to remain in the closet, which contributed to low levels of wellbeing and high levels of stress and anxiety. However, the few students that chose to come out experienced relief and felt included by some of their classmates and by staff. Discussed are key aspects of the dominant culture in PASS faculties and the repercussions for the mental health and wellbeing of gay students. Our research also provides new insights into the nature and prevalence of microaggressions regarding sexual orientation that will help PASS and university management develop specific strategies and programmes to foster inclusivity.

Recentment La Vanguardia ha fet ressò de l’estudi de l’INEFC de Lleida, sota la coordinació de la Dra. Estela Farias, que aprofundeix en la massificació que pateix el nucli de Siurana, un dels paratges més bells del Priorat, al municipi de Cornudella de Montsant. Segons la investigació, el nombre de visitants anuals que atrau aquest poble de 27 empadronats és de 266.431, més del 40% dels quals es passegen pels seus carrers al juliol, agost i octubre. Només a l’agost es van comptabilitzar 56.059 turistes, al ritme de 1.800 al dia.

El capítol “Lesbianism in sport. The heteronormative challenge”, signat per Susanna Soler-Prat, Anna Vilanova, Judith Solanas, Daniel Martos-Garcia, Wenceslao García-Puchades, ha estat publicat al llibre “Sport, Identity and Inclusion in Europe”.

This chapter summarises recent studies on the experiences of lesbian women in sport to provide a better understanding of the body of knowledge on this topic. First, the review provides an overview of research published in English on lesbianism and sport in Europe. Second, it examines the main international studies on lesbianism, focusing on the incidence of heteronormativity and homonegativism in women’s sports. Third, it presents the role of sport as a safe zone for the construction of lesbian women’s identities. The final section explores significant data related to sports participation and the experiences of lesbian women.
